White-tailed Eagle waiting to eat a Common Buzzard

(Næsbyholm Sø, Skåne, Sweden, January 2006)

A Buzzard is laying hurt on the ice. Both a Hooded Crow and a White-tailed Eagle is waiting for it to die.

Strangely enough the Eagle doesn't seem to want to attack the Buzzard which is still alive,

- but just patiently awaits it's dead.

After 5 hours the Buzzard is still alive,

- and the man of the day crawls out on the ice to save it.

Suddenly the Buzzard tries to escape,

- but is quickly being caught.

The Buzzard has clearly been bit in the head by the Eagles. The bird is being taken to an animal hospital.
